Prescriptions

Ordering repeat prescriptions

You can order your regular medicine in these ways:

  • Use your NHS account on the NHS website or app. You’ll see your medicine list and can choose what you need.
  • Bring your prescription form to the surgery (Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm). Put it in the prescriptions box.
  • Sign up for Pharmacy2U (leaflets are available at the surgery).

We do not take prescription requests over the phone.

Urgent prescription request

The surgery no longer handles urgent prescription requests.

If you need medicine quickly, please visit:

  • Lloyds Pharmacy
  • Milton’s Pharmacy

They may give you up to 14 days of medicine (They can only offer this twice in a 12 month period). You must bring:

  • Your repeat prescription slip
  • Your National Insurance number
  • A form of ID

Some medicines may not be available. In an emergency, call 111.

Collecting your prescription

You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it.

You must choose a pharmacy to collect from (this is called “nominating” a pharmacy). You can change it anytime:

  • On the NHS app or website
  • At your GP surgery
  • At any pharmacy

Questions about your prescription

f you have questions about your medicine, ask your local pharmacist. They can help with:

  • How to take your medicine
  • Side effects
  • Buying medicine without a prescription

You can also visit the NHS website for more information.

Medication reviews

If you get repeat prescriptions, we may ask you to come in for a review. We’ll contact you when it’s time.

Prescription charges

Visit the NHS website to learn more about prescription costs.

What to do with old medicines

Do not throw old medicine in the bin or flush it.

Instead, take it to:

  • The pharmacy you got it from
  • The surgery

About pharmacists

Pharmacists are trained to help with minor health problems like:

  • Coughs and colds
  • Sore throats
  • Tummy aches
  • Aches and pains

They can also help you choose medicine you can buy without a prescription.

Most pharmacies are open late and on weekends. You don’t need an appointment. Many have private rooms for confidential chats.
